Our Support
Our Family Support is completely bespoke and tailored to you and your family’s needs so it will look a little different for everyone. It is usually delivered by our team of family support volunteers, they are often parents themselves and have all undergone full training so they are best placed to help you and your family.
Importantly, here at Home-Start we ‘DO WITH NOT FOR’, everything we do is designed to help families to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to move on to managing family life independently.
Depending on what works better for you we deliver our support in a variety of ways
- Parent 2 Parent: We visit you and support you in person in your own home
- Information, Advice and Guidance Line: We can provide you with a contact who you can call from information, advice and guidance when you need it and we will check in with you to see how you are getting on.
- Parent Peer Support Group: come along to our group for the opportunity to meet, chat and share experiences with other local parents.
- Or it may be that a mix of all three is what is needed
Through our support we aim to:
- Offer emotional support
- Help with behaviour strategies and routines
- Help you to access medical appointments or community activities
- Offer you reassurance
- Signpost you to other more specialist agencies where its appropriate and you are happy
- Working alongside you with practical help
We are committed to working alongside our partner agencies, as we all work to our strengths and specialities together we can achieve the best possible outcomes for families. Accessing our support is entirely voluntary, we are not a statutory authority organisation so it is important to note that we do not:
- undertake formal assessments
- provide diagnoses
- oversee educational issues (such as low attendance)
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept referrals where the focus is for provision of items alone
